Why women’s health needs a spotlight

Historically, women were systematically excluded from medical research. A 2020 estimate indicates that only 5% of research and development funding is allocated to women’s health, and in the UK, less than 2.5% of publicly funded research is dedicated to reproductive health, despite one in three women experiencing reproductive or gynecological issues. This exclusion has left critical gaps in understanding women’s health. As a result, the medical community is playing catch-up, and women are suffering. As an example, the average time to diagnosis for endometriosis is 7.5 years.

Education around women’s health is essential to begin to close the gap, enable autonomy and advocacy, and encourage an increase in research.

FAQ

You ask, we answer

Can we change the frequency of sessions?

Of course - we’re happy to do more frequent sessions based on demand.

Can we have custom sessions based on the needs of our workforce?

Of course - we’re keen to address the needs of your workforce, so please get in touch if there are specific needs identified.

Is this acute medical advice?

This is not acute medical advice. It is health education and will provide actionable guidance, but we are not able to provide 1:1 medical care. Always see your GP / call 111 / 999 in an emergency.

Are the sessions only for women?

Our sessions will discuss female-specific health, but the sessions are open to all genders, as we believe it’s important for everyone to be a part of the solution, and to help destigmatise and normalise women’s health. However, if your company feels they would benefit from women-only protected-space sessions, we are happy to accommodate this.
